Successful Vendor Management

Successful Vendor Management (SVM): Harnessing the Best in a Third Party to Deliver Results

In a recent survey, life science trainers noted that the primary benefit of working with a training vendor is because of their content expertise - particularly when it comes to learning technology and instructional design. They give us value, and we need their extra arms and legs. So why all the obstacles? The same training practitioners noted that creeping costs, an inability of the vendor to stick to timelines, and project changes are the three greatest challenges of managing vendors. But this doesn’t need to be the case! The SPBT Successful Vendor Management (SVM) one-day workshop teaches principles and practices to equip life science trainers with a framework to select the right outside supplier, and to ensure projects come in on-time and on-budget. This workshop will pay for itself many times over when you are armed with an ability to reduce costs associated with "out-of-scope" change requests and make strategic - rather than costly trial-and-error – decisions.

"Steve's workshop on successful vendor management addresses all the key elements of starting, managing, and ending a project with finesse instead of failure… If you do any kind of work with vendors, this workshop is a 'must attend.'"

- Sue Iannone, Merck

"Vendor management is one of the most underappreciated yet critical skills to the success of a trainer. Steve’s extensive experience provides a clear, actionable process to effectively partner with our vendors."

- Bob Holliday, Boehringer Ingelheim
